An introduction to Crafting Part 6: Crafting and Character leveling

In “An introduction to Crafting Part 0: Why Craft” I explained one of the reasons to craft is that with crafting you’ll also gain experience points for your character level.

Let’s look at that more in-depth.

With everything you do, you’ll gain points. When making recipes, extracting ores, retrieving artifacts and chopping branches you’ll get the following character experience points at the specific rank (this will lower when you’ve reached higher tiers):

Experience from main and field Recipes Experience from farming nodes or fields

Expert 30 xp 30 xp 30 xp 30 xp 30 xp 30 xp
Artisan 35 xp 35 xp 35 xp 35 xp 35 xp 35 xp

Eastemnet 60 xp 60 xp 60 xp 55 xp 55 xp 55xp
Westemnet 65 xp 65 xp 65 xp 60 xp 60 xp 60xp

Keep in mind you will not get character experience points for cook and scholar ingredients in the wild (like Woad plants, rhubarb and such)

Due to the variation of experience gain from recipes for craft leveling, the character levels you’ll gain through crafting will vary. And of course it depends on which character level you start with. If you start crafting the moment you’re finished with the introduction and you’re in Celondim, Archet (go to Combe!), Michel Delving or Thorin’s Hall, you can expect to gain several character levels by the time you’ve reached the Westemnet Mastery Rank.
