An introduction to Crafting Part 1: The Basics

Crafting sign

Are you interested in crafting in Lotro? Perhaps to make everything you need on your journeys through Middle-Earth? Or would you like to help out Kinmates with everything they need on their journeys? Then crafting is your ideal source! You’ve come to the right place to learn everything there is to know about Crafting in Lotro. I will not only give you the basic information about crafting, but also an extensive guide about each profession. Each profession guide will include the following:

  • Introduction to the profession
  • Supporting class & race
  • Supporting profession
  • Given recipes per tier
  • Finding materials per tier
  • Items to make per tier
  • Costs per tier
  • Other recipes
  • Profession Guild

Everything is based on my own experiences. It means the overview of recipes may not yet be complete, but it will be gradually be filled. As for the costs per tier, I’m assuming you won’t buy your materials from the Auction house, as the prices can vary a lot per server and per material. I’ll assume that you either get them yourself (perhaps with an Alt) or get them from Kinmates. The costs in the guides are the costs from buying needed materials and recipes from vendors and the costs for repairing your tools.

The Crafting Basics

Lotro has seven crafting professions and three gathering professions. Sounds great, right? But there’s a catch! The professions are combined in vocations. Each vocation has at least one crafting profession and one supporting gathering profession. You can only have one vocation at a time.
